NYNY RYKE wins AIDA Award, reflecting its approach to sustainable luxury

NYNY RYKE has received an Africa International Design Awards (AIDA) award, marking a significant moment for a brand that has steadily built its own approach to sustainable luxury fashion.
Founded in 2014 by Fallylah Nyny Ryke Goungou, NYNY RYKE is designed in London and produced across Togo and Italy. The name carries its own meaning: in the Togolese dialect Kabyé, it translates to “only sweetness” or “so good.”
That philosophy is reflected across each collection. Approximately 80 percent of the brand’s fabrics are handwoven in Togo, not printed, and sourced through a cooperative of women artisans in the country’s north. These textiles are then elevated through Italian craftsmanship, forming a cross-cultural dialogue shaped by Goungou’s upbringing between the two regions.
Sustainability at NYNY RYKE is not treated as a trend, but as a long-term commitment. The brand works directly with artisans, provides training in pattern-making and garment construction to local tailors in Togo, and is actively working towards fully plastic-free production by 2030.
This approach continues to resonate across fashion and culture. NYNY RYKE was recently worn by Issue 10 cover star Nyasha Michelle, reinforcing its connection to a new generation of talent.
The AIDA award recognises what NYNY RYKE represents: a forward-looking model in which luxury and sustainability are no longer treated as separate conversations, but as a singular, evolving standard.
